GSMA mWomen releases research on mobile services & underserved women
To mark International Women’s Day 2012, the GSMA mWomen is delighted to release the research report Striving and Surviving – Exploring the Lives of Women at the Base of the Pyramid. This is a detailed exploration of the data collected during a nine-month study conducted in partnership with the Australian Agency for International Development (AusAID) and the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), with primary research undertaken by TNS. Striving and Surviving expands the summary report, entitled Portraits: A Glimpse into the Lives of Women at the Base of the Pyramid launched last week at the GSMA mWomen Seminar at Mobile World Congress 2012.

Etisalat Mobile Baby Wins mWomen Global Mobile Award!
We’re delighted to announce that Etisalat Mobile Baby, a joint entry between Etisalat, Qualcomm, D-Tree International and Great Connection Inc, today was the winner of the inaugural mWomen Global Mobile Award for Best Mobile Product or Service for Women in Emerging Markets, presented by GSMA mWomen Global Champion Cherie Blair.
Etisalat Mobile Baby is a complete suite of services enabling birth attendants and midwives to ensure safer pregnancies and deliveries by enabling them to quickly identify, communicate and act on obstetric emergencies.

The GSMA mWomen Programme today launched a new set of tools for the mobile industry at the GSMA mWomen Seminar at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, Spain. These accompany the launch of the research report ‘Portraits – A Glimpse into the Lives of BoP Women’ and are launched in partnership with USAID and AusAID.
These tools include the Mobile Operator Business Case Design Framework, the Impact Pathway for Mobile & Women and the Wants & Needs of BoP Women Research Toolkit.
